Recently, we sent you an ALERT about possible damage to trees following the application of Imprelis™ (aminocyclopyrachlor) turfgrass herbicide, manufactured by Dupont.
PLANET has received several comments of concern from members using Imprelis™ and has had several discussions with DuPont. The company has indicated it soon may be able to provide further information to our members who are encountering Imprelis™-related problems. We will continue our discussions with DuPont to be sure you receive the most current information available.
Usually, a proactive approach in communications with customers satisfactorily addresses customer agronomic concerns and reduces the risk of a dispute. To that end, we’ve composed a sample letter you may want to consider sending to customers whose property was treated with Imprelis™ and where damage has occurred. You also may want to notify your general liability carrier of a potential claim based on your company’s use of Imprelis™.
To further assist you with your plans to communicate about this situation with your customers who have damage, we have put together a mini toolkit on our Web site with public relations articles about how to handle crisis situations (scroll down the page to the Public Relations Crisis Management section). The toolkit also includes a link to DuPont’s Web site where information and updates can be found. We hope this information helps you as you work through this difficult situation. We will continue to track this issue and add to the toolkit any other materials that may be of help.
If you have any questions, please contact PLANET’s Director of Government Affairs Tom Delaney.
