Using The Linear Distance Tool

To calculate linear distance when in an overhead view, follow these steps

  1.   Click on the Distance Tool tool on the toolbar; the fourth tool from the top on the toolbar
  2.  Decide where to start your measurement
  3.  Simply left click with your mouse button and trace the desired area  

 

 

4.   Double click the left mouse button to complete the measurement

 

 

5.   The distance will be calculated

 

     6.   You can also right click the image and choose "Measure Distance" to begin a measurement

    7. To disable the segement and area text from displaying as you draw your measurements, tap the "I" key on your keyboard.

 

To calculate linear distance when in a directional view, follow these steps:      

      1.   Click on the Distance Tool  tool on the toolbar; the fourth tool from the top on the toolbar 

 2.   Decide where to start your measurement

3.   To calculate distance by straight line:

a.   Press and hold the left mouse button to start drawing

b.   Move the mouse in any direction to draw a line

c.   When the line is the desired length, release the mouse button

 4.   To calculate distance by polyline:

a.   Press and hold the left mouse button to start drawing

b.   Move the mouse in any direction to draw a line

c.   When the line is the desired length, continue to hold the left mouse button and press and release the “V” key to create a “vertex point.” This will lock the line in place and allow you to move the mouse in any other direction and draw another line. You can create as many “vertex points” as you wish in order to obtain the desired polyline

d.   When the polyline is the desired shape, release the left mouse button

Great job. now how do i delete unwanted linear measurements?

You can delete measurement by clicking on the red "X" in the measurement window.

Is there a way to edit an existing linear dimension??

Currently there is no way to edit linear measurements, only delete them.
